Game Highlights

Game Report

The NBA Highlights Nuggets have firmly taken control of the NBA Finals with a commanding 108-95 victory over the Heat, securing a 3-1 lead in the series.

Led by Aaron Gordon's 27 points and Nikola Jokic's 23 points, the Denver Nuggets took a significant step towards their first NBA championship. They defeated the Miami Heat 108-95 on Friday night, securing a commanding 3-1 lead in the title series.

Off the bench, Bruce Brown contributed 21 points, bolstering the Nuggets' performance as they claimed both games in Miami, establishing complete control of the series. With three opportunities remaining to secure a championship, including two games on their home court in Denver, the atmosphere is expected to be electric for Game 5 on Monday night.

Jamal Murray continued his impressive play with 15 points and 12 assists, marking his fourth consecutive game with double-digit assists.

For the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler led the team with 25 points. However, they now find themselves in a familiar 3-1 deficit, having faced similar situations in the 2014 and 2020 NBA Finals. Bam Adebayo recorded 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Kyle Lowry contributed 13 points.

With a sense of somberness, the Miami Heat left the court in silence, fully aware of the dire situation they find themselves in.

The Denver Nuggets entered the series as overwhelming favorites, given their position as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, while the Miami Heat held the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Nuggets had dominated the regular-season matchups between the two teams, winning nine out of their last ten encounters. This trend has carried over into the finals, as Denver has continued to assert its dominance over Miami in the first four games.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Nuggets held a 13-point lead. Miami came out with a sense of urgency, knowing they had to make a strong push. The Heat quickly scored the first eight points of the quarter, and Nikola Jokic, facing foul trouble, was forced to take a seat on the bench with 9:24 remaining after committing his fifth foul. Miami managed to narrow the gap to 86-81 when Jimmy Butler converted a three-point play with 8:42 left on the clock.

Despite their collapse in the fourth quarter of Game 2, resulting in their only loss of the series, the Denver Nuggets showed resilience even without their two-time MVP. Jamal Murray halted Miami's 8-0 scoring run with a timely 3-pointer, and Jeff Green made a significant corner 3 near the Heat bench, giving the Nuggets a 94-85 advantage with 6:21 remaining.

Nikola Jokic briefly left the game when Denver held a 10-point lead but returned when they were up by nine. Unfortunately for Miami, they failed to capitalize on that opportunity and now find themselves on the unfavorable side of history. Teams that have taken a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals have emerged victorious in 35 out of 36 instances, placing the Heat in a challenging position as they attempt to defy those odds and prevent Denver from claiming the championship.

Furthermore, the Nuggets endured a scare when Jokic injured his right ankle after landing on the back of Max Strus' foot during the opening quarter. However, Jokic demonstrated his toughness by remaining in the game, briefly retreating to the Denver locker room before the start of the second quarter, and playing the rest of the game without any apparent issues.
