Game Highlights

Game Report

The Nuggets moved one step closer to the NBA Finals by securing a 119-108 victory against the Lakers in Game 3.

In a Saturday night showdown, the Denver Nuggets dominated the Los Angeles Lakers with a commanding 119-108 win, securing a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference finals. Jamal Murray delivered an impressive performance, scoring 37 points, while Nikola Jokic contributed 24 points and eight assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, facing his former team, showcased his skills by scoring 12 of his 17 points in the second half. This victory marks a significant milestone for the Nuggets, as they have never been this close to reaching the NBA Finals in their 47-year history in the league. Despite surrendering a substantial early lead in Game 3, Denver turned the tide with a crucial 13-0 run in the fourth quarter, putting an end to the Lakers' nine-game winning streak at home since March 26. This streak included seven consecutive victories since the conclusion of the regular season.

Throughout NBA history, no team has ever managed to overcome a 3-0 deficit in a playoff series. As the Western Conference finals progress, Game 4 is scheduled for Monday night in Los Angeles.

Anthony Davis had an impressive performance, contributing 28 points and 18 rebounds for the Lakers, who had not experienced a three-game losing streak since early February. The Lakers' relentless and determined push since the trade deadline has now come to a halt against the dominant Nuggets, who have secured five consecutive wins in the playoffs.

LeBron James made significant contributions with 23 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds for Los Angeles. He managed to find his rhythm from beyond the arc, hitting three 3-pointers after starting the series with an 0-for-13 record. Austin Reaves also had a noteworthy performance, scoring 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds. However, Rui Hachimura was the only other Lakers player to surpass ten points, finishing with 13.

Nikola Jokic, a two-time MVP, had a relatively quiet game that ended his streak of four consecutive triple-doubles. On the other hand, Jamal Murray had an outstanding start to the game, scoring 17 points in a dynamic first quarter. This remarkable performance followed his 23-point fourth quarter in the previous game. By halftime of Game 3, Murray had already accumulated an impressive 30 points.

Bruce Brown made a significant impact by scoring 15 points and hitting a crucial 3-pointer during the decisive moments for the Nuggets. The shot provided a valuable boost, and later, Nikola Jokic essentially secured the game with a 3-pointer at the 3:17 mark.
