PBA Recap Rain or Shine triumphs over Terrafirma despite being shorthanded.
Despite a shortage of personnel, a determined 10-man Rain or Shine dominated Terrafirma, securing a convincing 121-95 victory for their fourth consecutive win in the PBA on Tour. Despite the absence of Beau Belga and Jhonard Clarito due to personal commitments, along with the injured Mark Borboran, the Elasto Painters displayed unity and teamwork throughout the entire 48 minutes to achieve the impressive result.
Coach Yeng Guiao's team displayed remarkable balance and contributions from all 10 players, as seven of them reached double figures in scoring.
Rey Nambatac led the charge with 21 points, including three three-pointers. Gian Mamuyac contributed 16 points, while Shaun Ildefonso and Andrei Caracut each added 14 points. Mac Belo recorded 13 points, Anton Asistio scored 11, and Santi Santillan rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.
Jewel Ponferada and Nick Demusis chipped in with nine points apiece, and Gabe Norwood made a four-point contribution to complete the impressive performance of the undefeated Elasto Painters.
Highlighting their team-oriented approach, ROS showcased 29 assists and capitalized on fastbreak opportunities, amassing 28 points in transition.
According to Nambatac, "Coach doesn't want us to slow down, and as he prefers, we keep pushing the ball. Hopefully, we can carry this mindset into the upcoming season."
Right from the opening tip, the E-Painters demonstrated their intensity, racing to a commanding 22-11 lead.
Although the Dyip managed to close the gap to a manageable five points by the end of the first quarter, Guiao's squad responded with a dominant 36-23 exchange in the second period, re-establishing their lead at 65-47.
Juami Tiongson led Terrafirma's offense with 25 points, but their efforts fell short as they couldn't replicate their previous victory over TNT, resulting in a 1-3 record in the pre-season tournament.
