The Beermen dominate the Kings' bench players and inexperienced members.
In the PBA Recap Highlights, Terrence Romeo, preparing for a comeback, once again showcased his exceptional shooting skills as he led San Miguel Beer to their second consecutive victory in the PBA on Tour on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
Having averaged 20.5 points in his first two preseason games of the series, presented by Arena Plus and sponsored by Bingo Plus, Romeo continued his impressive performance by scoring 21 points on a 45-percent shooting percentage. The Beermen cruised to a 90-78 victory over the debutant Barangay Ginebra Kings became the PBA Recap Highlights.
Rodney Brondial had a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds, while Jericho Cruz added 18 points to contribute to the Beermen's triumph. This win followed their previous 87-75 victory over the NorthPort Batang Pier, after a loss in their series opener against the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters (101-106).
Adding to their 12-point victory over the Gin Kings, CJ Perez made a significant impact with 15 points in his first game since representing Gilas Pilipinas in the recent Phnom Penh Southeast Asian Games.
With a considerable advantage in terms of firepower and team chemistry against Ginebra's mostly reserve players and apprentices, the Beermen delivered a commanding performance, leading by as much as 24 points.
Despite the absence of key players such as Christian Standhardinger, Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo, and Stanley Pringle, the Kings relied on Aljun Mariano, Raymond Aguilar, and Jonathan Gray to provide leadership and contribute offensively and defensively.
However, they were unable to match the Beermen's strength and experience. Mariano led the Gin Kings with 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, while Aguilar recorded 14 points and nine boards, and Gray contributed nine points, five rebounds, and five assists.
The Kings initially took a four-point lead, but the Beermen quickly intensified their performance, building an 18-point advantage of 45-27 by halftime.
Throughout the game, the Beermen dominated, although the Kings attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter.
