Game Report
Considering how early in the preseason it is, CONVERGE hasn't made many changes to its game.
At the start of their PBA Recap Highlights campaign on Friday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, the FiberXers displayed poise on both ends of the court to thrash the helpless Terrafirma Dyip, 119-82.
"This offseason, perimeter shooting is what I've been working on," said Arana, who shot 8-for-11 from the field and 8-for-10 from the line.
While Jeo Ambohot enjoyed one of his extremely uncommon starts by ending with 11 points and 11 rebounds, Mike Nieto, who was just acquired in a deal with Rain or Shine, also impressed in his Converge debut.
PBA Recap Highlights Jeron Teng, a club stalwart, added 12 points, and Adrian Wong, who was also just acquired from Magnolia, fit in well with his new squad by scoring 11 points. These contributions helped the FiberXers build a lead of up to 116-75 with 1:57 left in the contest.
Terrafirma has its work cut out for it as the club only managed three victories out of 34 games during the previous season due to poor execution, bad shots taken under duress from the opponent, and a lack of board crashers.
In comparison to their opponents' 43-for-94 field goal percentage, the Dyip made just 23 out of 71 attempts. They also committed four more turnovers than the FiberXers (12), and they were badly outrebounded (62-40), which resulted in a 5-20 disparity in points from second chances.
Despite only receiving 12 points from Kevin Ferrer and 11 from Ed Daquioag, Juami Tiongson's 17 points off the bench were enough to carry the Dyip.
